How do you paint floor molding without getting paint on the carpet?

Just putting tarp on the carpet won't help, so is there another way?How do you paint floor molding without getting paint on the carpet?
They make a tool for that I think it is called a paint edger. Mine is like a sheet of metal about a foot long with a plastic handle that you shove under the molding above the carpet to protect it. I got mine at the paint store (like Vista, Dunn Edwards, Frazee, Sherwin Williams) not the home improvement centers. But my painter blue tapes the visquene right along the molding and never gets paint on the carpet. I don't trust myself enough that it wouldn't seep under the tape. How do you paint floor molding without getting paint on the carpet?
take a piece of cardboard and hold it near the floor if that is to thick then use a newspaper to hold aginst the floor be carefull when you first do it it is a hard task..lol
take off the moulding and paint it
Okay, so spend a little money and hire a professional....Or you can use thin cardboard to hold down while painting. Or you could pull up carpet temporarily until paint is done and dry...or hire a professional they can do it with a brush.
SHOE MOLDING CAN BE PAINTED EASILY BY PURCHASING A PLASTIC TARP THAT HAS MASKING TAPE BUILT IN ALONG ONE SIDE . I THINK WALMART HAS IT
You definitely have to be careful. but you should use the tarp and carpenter tape. If you do get paint on the carpet, use car wax to get it out. That stuff will get anything out. Hope it works for you!!!
Masking tape and old newspaper to protect the carpet. Have your paint dealer put your color paint in an aerosol can, then carefully spray your molding. Most dealers can do this, and the cost minimal. I have done this, so I know it can be done.

Good luck.
