I'm planning on painting a murel for a friend in her kids room- what kind of paint is ideal?

I need the cheapest option that will still look good. Could I use regular house paint and then add details with acrylic?I'm planning on painting a murel for a friend in her kids room- what kind of paint is ideal?
You can use latex interior paint with acrylic touches, but you might be looking at a difference in finish (flat acrylic vs satin latex paint). You can mix in a little satin medium gel to the acrylic before painting to fix this -- you can find this just about anywhere they sell art supplies. If, for some reason, there is a need to wash down the wall with the mural regularly, it is best to seal it with a clear acrylic sealer -- usually available in a spray can, but of course get everything out for the day and cover the floor and other walls before sealing. If it will be treated just like any normal wall in the house, there is no need to seal it.I'm planning on painting a murel for a friend in her kids room- what kind of paint is ideal?
It depends on her age and what she is ';into';...

Here are some ideas that I have and what you could paint:-

1) Fairies - This would be the fantasy theme.

* Wishing wells

* Toadstools (In her favourite colours)

* Ladybeetles

* Mice

* Flowers

* Strawberries (All fairy books have strawberries)

* Birds

* Hidden Houses

* Unicorn

* Butterflies (This is how fairies get around)

* Dragon Flies (This is how fairies get around)

* You could have hidden images, (You could even take her photo and stick it inside one of the houses - lacquer of the top)

2) Garden Theme

* Butterflies %26amp; Flowers

* Obviously lots of flowers

* Bright blue sky

* Lots of Butterflies

* Hidden surprises - so each time she looks she sees something new.

3) Farm animals

* Paint all the different farm animals in a paddock.

* Barn

* Wood Fence

* Rabbits

4) Storybook Theme

* Get all the famous fairytales and paint them all on.

5) Princess Theme

* All fairytale princesses

* Castle

* White horses (Even better with a Knight??)

6) Rainbow

* Just paint a huge rainbow

* Pot of Gold at the end

7) Her favourite things Theme

* If she likes dolls, paint dolls

* Cupcakes... the list here is endless!

Hope that helped, as for the paint type, I think for BIG areas it would be okay to use house paint... and then details with arcylic. (Just make sure you are not painting over a oil base paint or you'll have to use oil base paint to paint over the top... it peels otherwise).
Im not sure what kind of painter you are.... but I thought this might help you... always good to have a few tips up your sleeve :) http://www.newyorkgeneralcontractor.com/鈥?/a>
