What type of paint should I use to paint a picture on a bedroom wall?

My wife is out of town until sunday and I want to paint an invader zim theme in our bedroom for her birthday before she gets back. What kind of paint should I use? The walls are off-white right now.What type of paint should I use to paint a picture on a bedroom wall?
There is no rule which says you must paint woodwork white, or strip it, or color it to merge with the walls. In a room whose walls, window frames and doors are in the same neutral color, you could paint the skirting board a clear contrasting color.

Depending on how large the painting would be...


Gouache gives an oil paint effect, but is water based and can be mixed with water to give different shades....


Or Acrylic paint if it's a larger surface...





I'd avoid oil based... takes a long time to dry and is messy.
You could use acrylic paints, i would paint the wall with a flat paint b4 actually doing the drawing. go to your local paint store and ask them what would be the best kind of paint, you could also use oil based paint, but i would actually ask someone that knows about it b4 i would do it, go to a hobby shop they would be able to help you as well......good luck on your painting.....and that is really sweet of you to do that for your wife, i'm sure she appreciates it.............
Do you know which kind of paint you have on your walls now, if its latex, use latex if its oil, use oil. You cannot mix the two paints, it will not stick.
I would recommend a good acrylic paint for doing the artwork, because it is durable and washable.
