I have a bicycle from the '50s and it's in good condition but the paint is really bad. It needs a new paint job.

take the bike apart, sand it with 220 grit sand paper, use two coats red oxide primer on the whole bike, sand lightly with 360 grit sand. Clean with alcohol, put three light coats paint, 15 minutes apart. ( Red oxide primer and paint comes in spray bombs at wal-mart or any auto parts store).
