How do I paint over cabinets that have been painted with Melamine paint?

Time to repaint the kitchen cabinets. I think the previous paint was melamine based. Is there a special method for painting over this?How do I paint over cabinets that have been painted with Melamine paint?
you could always sand them down to there origional finish...this would give you the best results, but it is a lot more work.How do I paint over cabinets that have been painted with Melamine paint?
you should be able to re-paint anything (no matter what was used before) if you sand it down first.
