I just bought this great old unfinished dresser off craigslist that I want to use as a console for our new flat panel tv. I'm so sick of painting.......we just moved into our house and I'm about painted out. I've painted cabinets, walls, dresser, night stand, chandelier etc. Anyway, will it not come out right if I spray prime and paint it?? and if I have to paint it with a brush/sponge roller can I spray prime it? I just know it will be faster and I'm soooo SICK OF THE PAINTING already. :) Your help is much appreciated. To spray paint or not to spray paint that is the question?
Yeah, I think in the long run, you'll be a lot happier if you do it the old fashioned way. Even if it takes a bit longer to do, your hard work will last longer and you'll be even happier with the result.
Here's a cool wiki-how that explains how to apply a two tone finish, but you could also just follow the steps for applying one stain/paint.

Sure you can spray prime it. Just make sure that you use the same brand of paint for the top coat and that you sand the old finish first.
I would spray because natural wood grain will fill in if you brush. Just make sure the wood surface is prepped and you use the right paint. Ask the experts at the paint/hardware store.
Use it for a while as is--when you relax and settle down--stain it when you feel better
Painting furniture always comes out better with brush painting, and I have painted alot of furniture. Also with spray painting you should always wear a mask, whether insde or out. Spray paint can damage your lungs, majke you more supceptible to respiratory diseases ,like pnemonia and bronchitis. Iwas told by my doctor not to use spray paint again, Ivehad pnemonia three times.
