What specific paint should I use to paint a breyer horse?

I want to paint one of my unpainted breyer horse, but I need some tips for what sort of paint I should use. What specific paint should I use to paint a breyer horse?
Just about any kind of paint will work as long as it is the right color or can be mixed so that it will be the right color.

Acrylic is good. but there are many that you can use. You can buy them in the hobby/auto section at walMart or you can find them at craft supply stores.

And using a primer is good but it's okay if you don't.

Some people enter their model horses in shows just like real horses. here is a thread of kids talking about it:

and breyer has shows and events too:

I'm not sure What paint you should use but you could try project paint or arts and crafts paint. Just don't use fabric paint it'll go all lumpy!
