nothing too funky, this is going to be all over the house. I need something somewhat neutral, would prefer wood, but the trim has already been painted on.I am painting my walls a bright white, what color would you suggest I paint my trim?
I think a dark color that looks like mahogany, like sherwin williams' ';bitter chocolate'; would look stunning against the white walls.

You could also try doing a painting technique to make it look like wood. I'm thinking of trying this in my own home:

well i would say a light blue but not to light on the trim but it depends what your house looks like
For my frame of reference.
Well first off I like bright white trim with colored walls, I think that looks rich. And in my house in most of my rooms the (window and door) trim has never been painted and I cannot bring my self to do it :). (actually it is lightly white-washed.)
However I do have several rooms with white walls and white trim.
In my bedroom, my walls have 5 horizontal stripes - (metallic) silver/white/silver/white/silver and the floor trim is silver to keep the stripes all the same size. Even the more conservative family and friends think it looks rich.
In general the trim looks best if it is either:
(Natural) wood OR White OR the same color as the walls.
- It is kind of a matter of taste, but this is also what I see by decorators and in nicer homes.
a color in the beige family, it contrasts the white and I have seen it in mags, and it looks like a million bucks
